    Bucking Clamp Torque Sensor

    Operating principle: The sensor is mounted on the tail rope of the tong. During make-up of the drill pipe, a tensile force proportional to the make-up torque is generated in the tail rope. This tensile force acts on the hydraulic fluid via the sensor’s piston and is transmitted through the connecting line to the Bourdon tube of the tong torque indicator. The free end of the Bourdon tube undergoes displacement, which is amplified by the amplification mechanism to deflect the pointer, thereby indicating the tension in the tong’s tail rope.
