It can accurately measure the swelling volume and swelling behavior of shale core samples under various conditions, thereby enabling evaluation of the effectiveness of different shale-stabilizing treatments in inhibiting shale hydration-induced swelling. Based on these evaluations, suitable treatment agents can be selected for specific formations and shale types with varying compositions, with the aim of controlling and mitigating shale hydration swelling and thus preventing potential incidents such as wellbore collapse and stuck pipe.
